Here are my top 3 methods you MUST know in order to get lean without counting calories:
- Eat a protein source at every meal! Meeting your Protein requirements is needed to build & repair muscle tissue from training sessions. While protein has the highest thermic effect of all foods meaning your metabolism increases in order to break it down. Eating Protein with each meal also helps improve satiety and reduce cravings. There are numerous study’s showing between high protein diets & improved fat loss compared to lower protein intakes.
- Sleep, Stress & Anxiety: These 3 things can often be the handbrake on your fatloss progress even when nutrition and training are on point! Here are the simple truths: you must have consistent deep sleep to maximise long term fat loss & performance in the gym. Here are some great ways you can reduce stress, anxiety & improve sleep: Get outside in the sun & in nature ! Early exposure to sunlight can really help improve your sleep & time outdoors in nature has been shown to reduce stress & anxiety! Make your room like a bat cave , cold & pitch black to optimise sleep. Cut off phone & screen time 1 hour before bed! This would have to be the best modern day hack to improve sleep & wellbeing!
- Portion control: You must use some way or method to measure your portions of fats, carbs & proteins. This could be using a cup to dish up & measure your carbs for that meal, a level tablespoon to serve your fats, & approximately palm diameter and thickness for your protein portions. Salads & greens eat as much as you like as you can get a lot of volume & fibre here with few calories in return so again will help satiety & hunger. Weighing your food would be taking it to the next level with more accuracy but again only do what you are prepared to do & sustain longterm. I would recommend that you do weigh foods for a week or 2 just to know visually what 20g of nut butter looks like, 200g of chicken or 250g of cooked rice would look like on your plate. Lastly drink more water between meals & eat every 3-4 hours! This will help satiety and reduce cravings & prevent snacking between meals taking you out of a calorie deficit for the day!
